Nvidia Readies Drivers For New Games, Offers $100k in Prizes
Nvidia is using a $100K giveaway to encourage PC gamers to register with GeForce Experience before it becomes mandatory for access to game-ready, day one drivers. Nvidia's gearing up for the season by offering day-one Game Ready drivers for every major title. At the same time, the company is cooking up $100,000 in giveaway prizes as it tries to convince PC gamers to register with Nvidia’s GeForce Experience (GFE).
The company will deliver Game Ready driver support on or before launch day for the titles this holiday season. These include (but aren’t limited to):
- Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III
- Civilization Online
- Fallout 4
- Just Cause 3
- Monster Hunter Online
- Overwatch
- RollerCoaster Tycoon World
- StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void
- Star Wars: Battlefront
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- War Thunder
Nvidia introduced the Game Ready drivers program two years ago. Rather than release drivers according to arbitrary timetables, the company's timelines for drivers are in lockstep with major game releases. When a new game hits, Nvidia release a Game Ready driver for that title right before it launches.
Nvidia envisions a future where it has direct contact with its gaming audience via GeForce Experience. Back in October, Nvidia said it wants to make GFE a "single-source destination" for PC gamers with new features like gaming news, early game access, and hardware giveaways. Nvidia’s vision is a major change for a piece of software that currently serves as a hub for managing features like driver downloads, ShadowPlay video recording and sharing, automatic game optimization, Nvidia Shield game streaming, and LED configuration for your gaming rig.
Nvidia is offering over $100,000 in prizes to registered GeForce Experience users. Prizes include three of this year’s hottest titles, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate , Call of Duty: Black Ops III and a third title the company did not disclose. Plus, Nvidia is giving away GeForce GTX 980 Ti, GeForce GTX 960, GeForce GTX 950-based graphics cards and SHIELD Android TV boxes.
