Nvidia Releases GeForce Go 7800 for Notebooks
NVIDIA officially announced Wednesday the release of its new NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 GTX GPU, the flagship of the NVIDIA notebook GPU line-up. The successor of the GeForce Go 6800 GPU released 10 months ago, is immediately available in notebooks of various companies.
Based on the company's desktop PC version, the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 GTX GPU features a redesigned architecture which delivers a number of achievements,
including the following:
- New programmable shader architecture, claimed to deliver twice the shading horsepower of the previous generation notebook GPUs
- Support for the latest games and applications with DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0 and Film
- Quality HDR, the must have feature for developers delivering more realism to Real-Time Gaming
- NVIDIA PowerMizer technology, power management to maximize battery life
- Second-generation NVIDIA PureVideo technology, allows users to experience home theater quality video on the notebook PC
Compared to the previous model of the company (GeForce Go 6800), the new GeForce Go 7800 features more pixel pipelines and an increased number of transistors. The memory clock has remained the same, set at 1.1GHz. A detailled comparison between the two GPUs is illustarted in the table below:
