Nvidia's Fastest G92 Implementation: Geforce 9800GTX Officially Released
Nvidia on Tuesday released the new GeForce 9800GTX high-end graphics card for DirectX 10, offering slightly better performance at the $300~350 price point.
The Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX graphics card is based on the G92 graphics processor and has 128 unified shader processors, offering higher shader performance compared to the company's single-chip graphics cards. It's core clock set at 675MHz, streaming processors (SP) are clocked at 1688MHz and comes with a 512MB GDDR3.
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX also uses ther the NVIDIA HybridPower technology. With this new technology users can combine the onboard GeForce GPU with the GeForce 9800 GTX, in order to enjoy an extra performance boost. When the GeForce 9800 GTX is not being used it can be powered off and switched to the onboard GPU.
In addition, the supported 3-way NVIDIA SLI technology offers amazing performance scaling by implementing AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering). Nvidia claims that when a 7 series NVIDIA nForce motherboards is combined with 3-way NVIDIA SLI technology, the performance will be increased up to 2.8 times over a single GPU.
The 9800 GTX also supports DirectX 10, NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology for high-definition video reproduction and of cource, it is HDCP -ready.
Below you can see the specifications of the new GeForce 9800 GTX as well as a comparison with other graphics cards based on the G92 GPU.
