There must have been so many times you had asked yourself, if only I had more memory on my flash memory to transfer all my data? We all use one or two GB USB sticks, which can hold a good deal of MP3 music or 2-3 DivX movies, but... after that point, we need to turn to a DVD which can hold up to 4.2GB (Single Layer).

OCZ Technology provides a solution to this problem, by introducing a new series of flash memory devices known as "Mega-Kart". What does this new line offer? Increased capacity with the well known performance of OCZ products, all in the size of a credit card.

Even if the the new OCZ 8GB Mega-Kart may not be the smallest (in physical size) flash memory product you can buy, it has enough capacity to fit two single sided DVD-Video discs. Imagine what else you can fit in 8GB of space. You could for example backup your documents folder or pictures, music, whatever you like. The OCZ 8GB Mega-Kart has very high reading performance, up to 29MB/sec, while its writing performance is average for a flash memory product, at 7MB/sec. There are other USB sticks with up to 10MB/sec reading/writing speeds but they don't offer 8GB capacity...

If we had to complain about something, it's the short length of the attached USB cable. I know the dimensions are too small to fit something longer, but due to credit card shape, your Mega-Kart needs a USB cable extension. Believe me, you won't want to mess around at the back of your PC with so many cables about. You also need to be very careful with the attached cable, because it's very thin.

Overall, we feel that the OCZ 8GB Mega-Kart is a good product. It comes in 8GB and 16GB capacities, depending on how much money you want to spend. Its dimensions are small and if you have an empty slot in your wallet, it will fit in without any problem. Congrats to OCZ for introducing the 8GB Mega-Kart, at least now I can carry around with me a couple of DVD-Video movies, in the size of a credit card. :-)
