Ricoh Grants DVD+R DL Manufacturing Technology to Ritek
Ricoh and Ritek continue their collaboration in the optical media industry where Ritek will use Ricoh's technology know-how to enhance its DVD+R DL disc production.
Ricoh has agreed to offer its original technology for manufacturing DVD+R DL, first to Taiwanese Ritek.
It will be possible for Ritek, on top of producing its own in-house brand DVD+R DL media, to produce and supply media for Ricoh based on Ricoh specifications.
Ricoh has adopted an organic media coloring material, "Advanced dye", that provides excellent stability while low manufacturing costs are also possible through an "Inverted Stack" method which is a new manufacturing process for bonding together the layers.
Since August 1999, Ricoh had assigned the production of CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW media to Ritek and will do the same with DVD+R DL media. It is hoped that this mutual agreement will make possible the production of discs conforming to the latest standards much earlier in the future.
