Ricoh today announced the "Pentax 645Z" medium format digital SLR camera equipped with a large-size 51.4-Mpixel CMOS image sensor. The new camera was developed based on the Pentax 645D, which was launched in 2010. The main difference between the 645Z and 645D is their image sensor. While the 645D has a 44 x 33mm 40-Mpixel CCD sensor, the 645Z comes with a 43.8 x 32.8mm 51.4-Mpixel CMOS image sensor.

Ricoh Imaging will release the new camera at the end of June 2014. The expected price of the camera is about ¥800,000 (approx US$7,860).
