Samsung Adds Wireless Charging To Galaxy S4
Samsung Electronics will add a wireless charging feature to its flagship Galaxy S4 device, set to be launched in S. Korea later this month.
The Galaxy S4 will use the Qi wireless technology, a standard approved by the Wireless Power Consortium for inductive electrical power transfer over distances up to 4 centimeters.
Samsung is a member of the consortium on wireless charging technology, which includes over 100 manufacturers including LG Electronics and Huawei.
LG Electronics has also applied the feature on its latest device, the Optimus G Pro.
Samsung will likely to provide the charging technology via smartphone back cover, although the accessory may not become available in all markets.
The Galaxy S4 is expected to hit European shelves next week.
