Samsung Starts Shipping 55- and 65-inch 4K TVs to Korea
South Koreans who had pre-ordered one of Samsung's F9000-series 4K TVs last month will start receiving their TV units in the following days.
Samsung will start shipping its 55- and 65-inch F9000 sets on July 6th.
The units are featuring Ultra HD screen resolution and Evolution Kit support at prices of 6.4 million won ($5,670) for the 55-inch TV and 8.9 million won ($7,913) for its 65-inch model.
Both the 55- and 65-inch F9000 UHD TVs boast picture quality four times the resolution of Full HD TV. Samsung has developed its own four-stage picture quality processing called the 'Quadmatic Picture Engine'. This optimizes the signal, minimizes noise, incorporates UHD up-scaling and enhances picture quality.
Samsung's largest 85-inch S9 series retails for $38,000 while Sony's similarly-sized UHD TVs retail in the U.S. for$5,000 and $7,000, respectively.
