Sony Introduces New BRAVIA 3DTVs, 3D LED Backlight Blu-Ray TVs Combo, New BDXL and 3D Blu-Ray Players

Sony today introduced the new 3D BRAVIA NX810 HDTV series for the U.S. market as well as the HX80R and EX30R LED Backlight 3D HDTVs and six new Blu-ray players / burners with support of both 3D and BDXL (100GB BD-R) for the Japanese market. Sony's new NX810 HDTV series

Just in time for the kickoff of the fall football season, Sony announced three new 3D BRAVIA TVs. The new NX810 HDTV models are promising to offer outstanding contrast with smooth, vibrant images. They featuire built-in Wi-Fi and access to Sony's BRAVIA Internet Platform and the company's new movie service, Qriocity. The series includes models with screen sizes of 60, 55 and 46 inches. In addition, anyone who purchases one of the new 3D BRAVIA models will receive two free Blu-ray 3D titles and a PlayStation Network voucher enabling 3D BRAVIA purchasers to download stereoscopic 3D gaming experiences on the PS3.

BRAVIA KDL-60NX810 Edge LED LCD HDTV with 3D

Available in September for about $4,700
- Full HD 1080p Resolution with 3D
- DynamicEdge LED Backlighting with local dimming
- Motionflow PRO 240Hz Technology for Smooth Motion
- Built-in Wi-Fi for Network Connectivity
- BRAVIA Internet Video & Widgets
- LightSensor adjusts backlight with room light

BRAVIA KDL-55NX810 Edge LED LCD HDTV with 3D

Available in September for about $3,700
- Full HD 1080p Resolution with 3D
- DynamicEdge LED Backlighting with local dimming
- Motionflow PRO 240Hz Technology for Smooth Motion
- Built-in Wi-Fi for Network Connectivity
- BRAVIA Internet Video & Widgets
- LightSensor adjusts backlight with room light

BRAVIA KDL-46NX810 Edge LED LCD HDTV with 3D

Available in September for about $3,000
- Full HD 1080p Resolution with 3D
- DynamicEdge LED Backlighting with local dimming
- Motionflow PRO 240Hz Technology for Smooth Motion
- Built-in Wi-Fi for Network Connectivity
- BRAVIA Internet Video & Widgets

3D, LED Backlight and Blu-Ray TVs combo

Sony also today announced the release of HX80R (40", 46" & 55") and EX30R (32" and 26") LED Backlight HDTVs for the Japanese market. The new models are equipped with a 500GB internal HDD, support Blu-ray 3D reproduction through their bulit-in BD player - which is acyualy a BD burner too supporting the new BDXL format (128GB BD-R), XMB and DLNA. The EX30R feature Sony's CREAS 3 Image engine and DLNA.

The HX80R series supports Full HD and uses 10Wx2 speakers and the EX30R Series is not full HD (1366?768) and is equipped with with 8Wx2 speakers.

New BDXL and 3D Blu-Ray Player / Burner

Sony is also offering six new Blu-ray player / Burners with support of Both 3D playback and and BDXL recording/playback.

Available in Japan, the new models offer a 0.5sec boot-up time from the sleeping mode to 100% operation, improved multitasking allowing you for example to record 2 show at the same time on your HDD and/or BD Drive, as well as being capability to watch movies recorded on your Hard Drive. They also feature the improved Image engine with the adoption of the Intelligent Encoder 2 and CREAS 3 engines. The two top models BDZ-AX2000/AX1000 are also equipped with the newly developed "CREAS Pro" engine.

BDZ-AT500 (digital Hi-Vision tuner: 2x and 320GB HDD)
BDZ-AT300S (digital Hi-Vision tuner: 1x and 500GB HDD)

Sony plans to release its BD-R XL (100GB)in late October.



3D without glasses

Just one day after Toshiba's announcement that it is working on glasses-free 3D TVs, Sony's vice president today unveiled that its company would also come up with a similar 3D technology.

"Seeing 3-D without glasses is more convenient," Sony Senior Vice President Yoshihisa Ishida said Thursday at Tokyo headquarters. "We must take account of pricing before we can think about when to start offering them."
