SOUNDPEATS Clip1
2. Retail Package
The SOUNDPEATS Clip 1 retail box is small and has a similar design to other SOUNDPEATS products. It features the Dolby Audio and LDAC / Hi-Res Audio logos, indicating the special features of the product.

Opening the box unveils its contents; there is only the main product, a short Type-C charging cable, and a printed manual/guide.

The main carrying case is protected via a plastic sheet and is made out of shiny plastic with the SOUNDPEATS logo in front and a slide-up mechanism to protect/charge the main product.

At the back, users will find the USB Type-C charge port.

Opening the carrying case unveils the product and its contents. The charge case has dimensions of 71.5×49×35mm (L × W × H, mm). At the front, there is an LED indicator that displays the battery level via colors: green (100%-70%), yellow (69%-20%), or red (<20%). When charging the case, the LED gets adjusted to green constant (100%), green light pulsing (99%-70%), yellow light pulsing(69%-20%), or red light pulsing (<20%).

Each earbud weighs around 5.00 g and has dimensions of 28.45×22.32×28.03mm (L × W × H, mm), while the weight of the carrying case plus the two earbuds is 55.5 g. There is no indication of which earbud is L or R, and no marks upon them; however, the app automatically detects which one you wore, so it adjusts the sound accordingly for your hearing pleasure. The product also works with only one earbud installed in your ear.

The product is made out of high-quality TPU and nickel-titanium memory wire.

The product has an IPX5 waterproof rating, meaning that the Clip 1 is protected against water projected from a nozzle (exposed to rain or splashes) but not for water immersion.

Each earbud has a 45mAh battery, and the charging case packs a 450mAh battery capacity as well. The charging time is around 1h for a full charge for the earbuds, while the charging case alone can be charged in 2.0h. There is also fast charging supported, meaning with 10minutes, users can gain up to 2 hours of playback. The built-in battery of the carrying case can be used to recharge the Clip1 product up to 4 times, increasing the total working time up to 40hours. The product with the charging case is rated for 8Hrs Playtime + 40Hrs with Charging Case (60% Volume (AAC codec, standard mode). Increasing volume or changing codec mode may decrease overall playtime.

The case has a spring-loaded clamshell design that snaps firmly closed, and both earbuds are attached magnetically when you insert them for charging.

The includes 12mm Dual-Magnet Dynamic Driver (titanium PVD-coated) with a frequency response of 20Hz-40KHz, includes Bluetooth v5.4 support and SBC / AAC / LDAC BT codecs. Dolby Audio is also supported with two profiles (move/sound) that can be selected via the PeatsAudio app. There is a single-mic ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) for calls (AI Powered), which is the minimum for such a product, so you shouldn't expect much performance audio cancellation..

According to Wikipedia, LDAC (Lossless Digital Audio Codec) is a proprietary audio coding technology developed by Sony, which allows streaming high-resolution audio over Bluetooth connections at up to 990 kbps at 32 bits/96 kHz. Its main competitors are Huawei's L2HC, Qualcomm's aptX-HD/aptX Adaptive, and the HWA Union/Savitech's LHDC. On 17 September 2019, the Japan Audio Society (JAS) certified LDAC with their Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. Hi-res audio and high quality content are available through various music streaming services like Amazon Music, Tidal, Apple Music, Qobuz, and maybe others. The audio content on those services can be reproduced with the best sound quality when transmitted wirelessly via LDAC.

Hi-Res audio captures the original analog audio source with virtually no loss, faithfully reproducing sounds in detail. Unlike CDs, which discard some audio during recording, high-resolution audio includes much more information, such as "thickness, delicacy, depth, and sound pressure level," containing about 6.5 times more data than a CD. As a result, the audio quality is much closer to the original recording, allowing listeners to experience nuances and atmospheres previously inaudible on CDs. LDAC boasts high-resolution audio transmission, supporting up to 24-bit/96 kHz sound with a maximum bitrate of 990 kbps, nearly three times higher than SBC (328kbps, 44.1kHz), which helps you enjoy a dynamic music range, making it particularly suitable for handling high-resolution audio files. Note: The phone must be Android 8.0 or above and must support LDAC itself.
Both earbuds can be controlled via touch sensors: the S logo, the driver, and the stem. We do prefer, in general, physical controls, but touch sensors seem to be the way that most users prefer to control their earbuds.
