TDK Professional Disc & TDK Blu-ray Disc

Optical Storage May 3,2005 0

Leveraging its expertise as the digital recording leader, TDK has developed the next generation blue-violet laser disc, the PD-RE23CN.

This breakthrough recording media delivers the highest capacity (23.3GB per disc) and fastest data transfer rates (72Mbps/Optical Head; 144Mbps/Double Optical Head) ever achieved by an optical disc. Designed for use with Sony? XDCAM? optical recording products, the PD-RE23CN is launching a revolutionary new era in broadcasting.

Numerous breakthroughs, including DURABIS PRO?, TDK?s exclusive, high durability hard coating technology developed for professional use, are incorporated into every TDK PD-RE23CN disc. DURABIS PRO plays an essential role in providing the durability required for absolute reliability in the field and in demanding production environments.

TDK Blu-ray Disc

As a founding member of the Blu-ray Disc Association, TDK is playing an instrumental role in the development of blue laser technologies for a variety of consumer recording applications. In Japan, TDK has already launched Blu-ray Disc media. A U.S. launch will follow later this year. TDK rewritable Blu-ray Disc media features 25GB capacity and a blazing 36Mbps write speed.

As the leader in Blu-ray Disc development, TDK created DURABIS?, an innovative coating technology that protects the disc surface against scratches and other contaminants, eliminating the need for a disc cartridge. In the lab, TDK has already developed a 100GB quad layer Blu-ray Disc with 216Mbps (6x) recording speed.
