TEAC Announces New CD-RW Drive Line-Up
"..TEAC today announces its plans for a 12x10x32 CD-Rewritable drive. The drive's 12X write, 10X rewrite and 32X playback speeds represents the fastest combination of performance available in the market. The Company also today announces the shipping of a new external USB CD-RW drive, based on the 4x4x32 IDE internal version that began shipping earlier this year.
The TEAC 12x10x32 CD-RW drive will write at 12X (CD-R), rewrite at 10X (CD-RW) and playback at 32X (CD-ROM) speeds, coinciding with the fastest CD-R and CD-RW media at time of release. This combination of speeds, coupled with an 85ms average access time and 4MB data buffer, will make the new CD-RW the fastest combination CD-RW drive. It will give users the ability to store data and/or audio, including large presentations and graphics such as photos and home videos, in all CD formats and will offer the lowest cost per megabyte with highest level of compatibility among all storage options. The 12x10x32 is Windows 95/98 and Windows 2000 compatible and will include everything needed to begin creating CDs at installation.
TEAC's latest 12x10x32 CD-RW will be available in both an IDE/ATAPI (#CD-W512E) or a Fast SCSI-2 (#CD-W512S) model at the end of the third quarter of 2000.
In addition, TEAC will begin shipping an external USB CD-RW drive (#CD-WE54E), an alternative version of the popular 4x4x32 CD-RW, which began shipping earlier this year. It writes and rewrites at 4X with a playback of 6X and is Windows 98 and Windows 2000 compatible. Unlike the internal drive, the USB version is simply plugged in to the standard external USB port of a PC..." NULL
