Starting today, Twitter will be delivering a weekly email digest to users, featuring the most relevant Tweets and stories shared by the people they're connected to on Twitter. The digest will feature the tweets that the "people you're connected to on Twitter are engaging with the most," according to Twitter.

From the email digest, users will be able to see the conversation about a particular tweet, follow shared links and send out their own tweets. This new email digest also features the most engaging Tweets seen by the people a user follows, even if he or she doesn't follow those who wrote them. Users can see who from their network retweeted or favorited these Tweets and click "View details" to retweet, favorite, reply or view the conversation around them.

Like other Twitter email notifications, users can manage their preferences for this new digest in their Notification Settings.

Google+ also initiated an email digest for Gmail users last week. It also allows users to comment on shared content directly from email.
