Upcoming AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Seems To Beat Intel Core i7-7700K

Upcoming AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Seems To Beat Intel Core i7-7700K

PC components Apr 5,2017 0

AMD is launching the new Ryzen 5 CPUs in the 11th of April but the first review of the $210 Ryzen 5 1600 CPU has appeared online and the results look impressive.

AMD's Ryzen 5 CPUs will include a retail from $210 for a 4-core, 8-thread CPU and $249 for a six-core in the form of the Ryzen 5 1600X.

Spanish website ElchapuzasInformatico has put the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU under benchmarks, and the chip looks very strong in multi-threaded applications, mathing or exceeding the performance of a more expensive Intel Core i7-7700K ($350).

The x264 benchmark has the AMD CPU slightly ahead of the Core i7, while in the the Cinebench R15 rendering test the AMD CPU's score of 1,123 is again faster than the stock speed Core i7-7700K. Using DX11 in Battlefield 1 saw the Intel CPU post some faster frame rates again, although in DX12 it was neck and neck. We had also noted that behavior when we tested the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, and AMD's response was that the games were not optimized enough for the new CPUs.
