WriteUDF! for Vista Supports Data Recording to Blu-ray Disc Drives

WriteUDF! for Vista Supports Data Recording to Blu-ray Disc Drives

Optical Storage Mar 12,2008 0

The new software provides fast data writing to recordable Blu-ray disc drives using UDF file system technology for disc interoperability between operating systems. Software Architects released WriteUDF! UDF Data Writer v1.0.3. This version adds support for writing to recordable Blu-ray Disc Drives on PC’s running MS Vista.

WriteUDF! enables Vista users to format, read and write to "write once" BD-R discs and rewritable BD-RE discs using the UDF.

The software presents the 25 or 50 Gbyte capacity discs as a drive letter in Windows Explorer.

Files can be written by "drag & drop" or directly from any third party application that is Win32 API compatible. Version 1.0.3 supports multi-session writing to BD-R, so the user can utilize the full capacity of the media.

The software also supports reading VR formatted DVD-RAM and DVD-RW discs containing recorded DVD video. It can be used on hard disk drives too.

Files recorded to BD-R and BD-RE formatted in UDF can be mounted and read on Mac OS, Linux and Windows systems that include a native UDF reader.

In addition to BD-R/E, WriteUDF! supports writing to all types of recordable DVD media, as well as hard disk drives and some USB flash memory devices. Version 1.0.3 supports UDF versions 1.02, 1.5, 2.0. 2.01, 2.5 and 2.6, and supports reading DVD discs containing data or DVD video files.

The software is available from 20 March 2008. Price is $79.95. Mac OS 10.5 support is available now.
