Yahoo Axes Some Services
Yahoo continues to adjust its services and products to make sure they are central to users' daily habits. As part of that effort, the company is shutting down a few products.
The changes, which will begin rolling out soon, include the shut down of 'Upcoming' as of April 30, 2013. Additionally, effective on April 30, 2013, Yahoo will no longer support the Upcoming API.
As of April 30, 2013, Yahoo Deals, Yahoo SMS Alerts, Yahoo Kids as well as Yahoo Mail and Messenger apps for feature phones (J2ME) will be also going away.
Finally, beginning the week of June 3, 2013, older versions of Yahoo Mail (including Yahoo Mail Classic) will no longer be available. Those of you using these older versions of Yahoo Mail can switch to the new Yahoo Mail.
The products to be shut follow Yahoo announcing plans in March to also kill its BlackBerry app, message boards, Clues, App Search, and Sports IQ.
