FVD Players Appeared at 2006 CES
Taiwanese FVD (forward versatile disc) red-laser high-definition DVD format, debuted internationally at the recent 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The DigiTimes.com website reports that the devices received the attention of professionals and the Idar Electronics, an OEM maker in Taiwan, received orders for 20,000 players.
In addition to FVD players made by Idar, CMC and Ritek presented FVD-video, FVD-R (recordable, write once) and FVD-RW (rewritable) discs, U-Tech showcased pre-recorded audio/video FVD discs and Infobank Technology exhibited software for playing back FVD discs.
