Two New Blu-ray Recorders by Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Electric Corp. will release two new Blu-ray Disc recorders equipped with hard disk drives next month, under its "REAL Blu-Ray" series.
The new lineup includes the DVR-BZ200 equipped with 500GB HDD and the DVR-BZ100" that comes with a 250GB HDD. Pices in Japan are expected to be 200,000 Yen ($2,000) and 160,000 Yen ($1,650), respectively.
Both new devices support recording of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video on on BD-R/RE media, as well as MPEG-2 video, the standard for digital HD broadcasts.
In addition, the devices offer support for Panasonic's AVCREC technology, which allows recording of HD video with AAC sound on the hard disk and then to DVD-R/RW media (VR mode/video mode).
The recorders also support dual recording of HD broadcasts, and can record two digital HD broadcasts simultaneously.
