Universal To Release Blu-ray and DVD In a Single Dual-Format 'Flipper' Disc

Universal Studios Home Entertainment will release its first dual-format Blu-ray Hi-Def and DVD discs featuring, Out of Africa 25th Anniversary Edition, Traffic and The Jackal, all debuting April 27, 2010. Consumers will have the ability to watch their favorite movies on Blu-ray, DVD and Playstation 3 Players on one disc. Each side of these Universal releases includes the entire movie as well as all available bonus features, with the Blu-ray side featuring exclusives such as BD-Live.

The first batch of flipper discs Universal put out go on sale on Amazon around $26-$28. At the same time, Amazon sells the Blu-ray titles for $30-$35 and normal DVDs for around $20. It seems that with current pricing, the new 'Flipper' discs will be a good choice for all those who already have a BD player.
