AMD Released New Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition CPU
AMD has added the flagship X4 980 Black Edition to its Phenom II X4 (quad-core) family of processors.
The Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition is clocked at 3.7GHz, which is 0.1 GHZ higher than the previous top model of the family, the X4 975 BE. Other than the small boost at the CPU speed, the X4 980 BE is having the same characteristics of its predecessor: 2MB L2 cache (512KB x 4,) 6MB L3 cache, is supports up to PC2 8500 (DDR2-1066MHz) and PC3 10600 (DDR3-1333MHz) memory, HyperTransport Technology, its maximum TDP is kept at 125W and it has been manufactured with the 45nm SOI CMOS technology.
The size of the CPU's die is about 258 sq mm and it packs 700 million transistors.
