Apple's Updated Samsung Statement Still Not an Apology

Apple's Updated Samsung Statement Still Not an Apology

Enterprise & IT Nov 2,2012 0

Apple today published an updated version of its court ordered statement in the U.K. that still doesn't read like an apology. The iPhone and iPad maker has been told by the UK court of appeal to reword its apology to Samsung and move it to the homepage. The aplogy should be clearly displayed on the homepage of its UK website, as well as be published in the Financial Times, The Guardian, Daily Mail, T3 Magazine and Mobile Magazine.

On October 26 Apple published a statement on its web site, but is still left the court unpleased. Currenlty the online statement is available on Apple UK web site and has appeared in the UK press - The Daily Mail and The Guardian newspapers.

Apple's updated statement reads:

"On 9th July 2012 the High Court of Justice of England and Wales ruled that Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited's Galaxy Tablet Computers, namely the Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 do not infringe on Apple's Community registered design No. 0000181607-0001. A copy of the fill judgement of the High Court is available on the following link www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Patents/2012/1882.html. That Judgement has effect throughout the European Union and Whales on 18th October 2012. A copy of the Court of Appeal's judgement is available on the following link www.bailii.org/ew//cases/EWCA/Civ/2012/1339.html. There is no injunction in respect of the Community registered design in force anywhere in Europe."

It is not clear whether the Judge overseeing the case is satisfied with this statement, but so sure, if he's looking for a clear cut apology from Apple, he'll probably have more words for the Cupertino-based company.
