TCL Is Launching Affordable 50-Inch 4K Television
TCL's new 50" Ultra-HD television will retail for just $999 - a superb price
that is more affordable than the average Smart HDTV in the same size class.
The TCL 7E51040 Ultra-HD has a 50-inch Edge-lit LED display with a resolution of
3840?2160, a 120Hz CMI refresh rate and a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
Other features include four HDMI ports along with an upscaler for improving the
quality of your standard HD content.
Considering that LG has a 55-inch 4K television retailing for $6999 and that ASUS just launched a 30-inch consumer 4K monitor for $3499, TCL's offering sounds crazy.
The Chinese company is entering the U.S. market with an aggressive price to establish its brand.
Of course, TCL 7E51040 will not be able to fully support 4K gaming, since its HDMI 1.4 connections allows for a maximum of 24 frames per second at a 4096 x 2160 resolution and true gaming display possibly needs to have at least 60Hz frame rate and a low refresh rate. For consuming multimedia content, however, it should be a great solution.
