Foxconn Sells Head Mounted Display Patent Portfolio To Google
Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) said it sold Google Inc part of a patent portfolio involving the superimposition of virtual images on real-world photos or Head Mounted Display.
Foxconn did not disclose the price of the sale.
Google's move comes as the company continues to accelerate the development of Google Glass.
Bloomberg and the Financial Times reported earlier this year that the wearable glasses will be manufactured by Foxconn in California, giving the company rights to say the devices were "made in the U.S."
Google is expected to release Glass in 2014.
Hon Hai has said it will focus on developing new technology, intellectual property rights and e-commerce as it looks to reduce its reliance on Apple.
