Yamaha Japan announces CRW3200 series!

Yamaha Japan announces CRW3200 series!

General Interest Sep 17,2001 0

We posted the news worldwide first and today Yamaha posted more information about the new 3200x line. The CRW3200 series supports 24x writing, 10x re-writing and 40x reading. As you should expected, it supports SafeBuRN -anti-buffer underrun protection- among with the new Mt. Rainer format (CD-MRW). With 18-24x P-CAV writing technology, a full 74min CD should be ready at 4mins. Yamaha has given its new model the title of "AudioMaster", since the drive includes several improvements over the past especially for making high quality Audio CDs. It raises the linear velocity when recording from 1.2m/s at the time of disk record in the 1.4m/s, holding down noise and reduces the jitter. However that has cost in the amount of data you can write. With 74min (650MB) media you can write only up to 63 minutes, 68 minutes. All that happens in the 4x writing reduced speed.

The drive is expected to ship from November at the retail price of 25.000 Yen ($212). There will be 3 different versions of the same internal CRW3200E (ATAPI) drive, CRW3200UX-VK (external USB 2.0) and CRW3200IX-VK (external FireWire). As you can see Yamaha also dropped the SCSI interface completly.
