Samsung to Test Tizen Phone in India
Samsung Electronics in Sunday said it will launch a smartphone using its own operating system Tizen in India this month.
Tizen was developed by Samsung, Intel and Panasonic. It is already installed in smartwatches Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear S, but this will be the first smartphone where Tizen can be tested.
Samsung's new Tizen phone, to be called the Z1, will be priced under US$100.
Samsung had initially planned to launch a Tizen smartphone in Russia in the third quarter but scrapped the plan. The firm said at the time that it wanted to further enhance the ecosystem behind Tizen.
