Facebook has now tweaked its code to allow you to past into your status bar, in a comments or reply section a link to a GIF from any supporting website. This means that a link for a GIF, hosted on sites such as giphy, tumblr or Imgur, will play on Facebook when the link is pasted in. But still, the social network does not support direct GIF uploads.
