Honor 8 Pro Unveiled, Bringing Kirin 960 And A 5.7-inch QHD
Honor today introduced its smartest device to date, the Honor 8 Pro. The new flagship device offers high processing power, long lasting battery life, 5.7-inch Quad HD display and a dual-lens camera.
The Kirin 960 chipset features eight processor cores - four high-performance Cortex A73 cores clocked to 2.4GHz and four low-power Cortex A53 cores clocked to 1.8Ghz - that improve single-core and multi-core performance by 10% and 18% respectively. The Mali-G71 includes support for the Vulkan graphics and compute API (application programming interface) and boosts graphic performance up to 400%. This will be paired with 6GB of LPDDR4 and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

Despite its slim profile (6.97mm body), the Honor 8 Pro's battery provides 2 days of regular use, and almost 1.44 days of heavy use. Its 4000mAh high density (710 Wh/L) battery and power-saving features spell the end of battery anxiety. The Smart Power 5.0 technology helps to maximize battery life by automatically identifying and terminating processes with high power consumption, as well as minimizing power consumed by background applications.
The smartphone's 5.7-inch display features a high resolution of 515ppi, 16700K colors and 94.5% coverage of the NTSC color gamut.
Honor 8 Pro also comes VR-ready, with a bundled cardboard viewer and pre-installed Jaunt VR app containing video content. Users will also be able to dive into the world of Galaxy on Fire 3, the first 3D game running on the Vulkan interface.
The Honor 8 Pro is equipped with a 12-megapixel dual-lens camera. The two lenses work in tandem: the monochrome lens captures a black-and-white image with depth of detail while the RGB lens ensure faithful color reproduction. The camera has a wide aperture range (f/0.95f/16). The device also supports shooting of 4K videos, encoded in the H.265 codec.
EMUI 5.1 also introduces Highlights, a new feature co-developed with Go Pro that organizes photos by category and automatically generates video stories that are easily customizable.
The Honor 8 Pro will be available for purchase for recommended price of 549 Euro from April 5 onwards in select markets, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
