Signage Display Identifies Your Finger Movements

Signage Display Identifies Your Finger Movements

Enterprise & IT Dec 1,2018 0

Japanese companies Kodenshi Corp and Takumi Vision Co Ltd have developed a prototype of a digital signage device that can be controlled by finger movements without touching the screen.

The prototype, which was last October at Ceatec Japan 2018, is operated with gestures by using non-contact sensors. It can accurately recognize how many fingers you are moving in front of the screen and also what kind of movements they are doing. This allows the user to assign different operations according to the fingers he/she is using.

The device uses an image sensor, image processing technology and a detection algorithm to recognize user's fingers.

Kodenshi claims that gesture-based operations using the number of fingers are more natural to humans than typical handwaving.

The companies are also providing a GUI that can be used in digital signage displays and 3D video screens.
