Valve Retires Non-gaming Video Section of the Steam Store
Valve is killing the Video section of the Steam Store menu with an expectation that video content is discovered via the associated game or software store page, or through search, user tags, recommendations, etc.
Valve said that over the coming weeks, a number of non-gaming videos will be retired and will no longer be available for purchase. Previously purchased content will remain available to owners.
Valve’s video ambitions for Steam initially grew out of gaming content some years ago. However, over the years the focus on gaming content shifted to also include regular movies.
Despite Steam’s dominance in the gaming market, it seems this hasn’t been enough to convince people to also use it to buy and rent films.
