Immediatek licenses CD burning technology to Brazilian music company

General Interest Jan 22,2003 0

Immediatek, Inc. (OTCBB:IMDK) announced that it has licensed its patent-pending CD burning software to Brazil's leading online music site, Kviar.com. According to Immediatek, this license agreement comes as the first of many in progress or already secured by the exclusive strategic partnership between LCD Interactive, Inc. and Immediatek. The proprietary CD burning software allows an entire music CD to download instantly and automatically to a CD burner in "one click" as an enhanced part of the e-commerce system. The digital CD completely bypasses the computer's hard drive.

"The fact that an entire CD can download "directly" to a music fan's CD burner is a revolutionary breakthrough in how music is legally distributed over the Internet, and helps in the protection of copyrights," said Zach Bair, CEO of Immediatek. "This license agreement enables online music companies to deliver digital music over the Internet directly to CD burners. We have created a copyright-protected system by building our CD burning software into the e-commerce system of Kviar's Brazilian music site."

Paul Marin, CEO of LCD Interactive added, "instead of sharing these music files freely, users pay for the music either through a monthly fee or on a per-track basis."

Al Costa, CEO of Kviar.com replied, "we are excited to offer these unique CD burning capabilities to customers throughout Brazil and South America. Until now we have been limited to mailing out CD-Rs; now our customers can burn their own CDs directly from our site," says Costa.

Bair and Marin say that plans for 2003 are to work towards becoming the standard technology for music downloading and burning, and licensing the CD burning software to key leading digital and Internet-related music companies including Pressplay, Musicnet, Launch, CDNOW, Emusic and MP3.com.
