More production of Pre-recorded disc in Taiwan.
Feng Sheng Technology and Homenema Disk, two Taiwanese manufacturers of pre-recorded optical discs, will expand their monthly production capacities to 15 million discs and 9.8 million discs, respectively, in 2004.
Unlike Taiwan’s top two pre-recorded disc makers, U-TECH Media and Infodisc Technology, with focus on OEM production for major international movie producers, Feng Sheng and Homenema mainly produce entertainment, educational, game, music, and information storage discs.
To fund the expansion, Homenema will increase its capital to NT$290 million in January 2004. Later in the first quarter, Feng Sheng will follow suit, increasing its capital to NT$400 million.
Feng Sheng debuted on the local over-the-counter (OTC) stock market at NT$24 per share on December 29, 2003. The company posted revenues of NT$538 million, pretax profits of NT$85 million, and earnings per share of NT$2.58 for January-November 2003.
