The first 8x DVD±R/RW recorder by LiteOn, the "SOHW-812S", is currently available in the Japanese market at a street price of 13,980 yen (Euro 103). Availability for Europe is expected in a couple of weeks, at a slightly higher price. Additionally to the 8X recording for both DVD±R, the drive supports 4x DVD±RW and 40x CD-R writing, while the buffer size is set to 2MB.
