Acer America announced the Aspire Vero notebook, its first sustainability-focused product, is available tomorrow in North America and is one of Acer’s first products powered by Windows 11. Made from recycled materials, the Aspire Vero delivers on Acer’s Earthion mission to offer products that support a sustainable future. The new notebook pairs perfectly with Windows 11, which is designed to bring people closer to what they love by empowering their productivity and inspiring their creativity.
Acer also announced its popular Swift 5 (SF514-55TA), an ultrathin and light notebook with an uber-stylish design will be available with Windows 11 tomorrow, and its Nitro 5 gaming notebooks will be available with Windows 11 later this month. The new Swift 5 notebooks make the most of Windows 11 with the latest performance technology and also offer an antimicrobial solution in an ultraportable package. Acer’s newest Nitro 5 notebooks (AN515-57 and AN515-54) bring the latest technologies to gamers who want the most bang for their buck by offering a good balance of powerful features with a stylish design at affordable prices.
“Acer is proud to align with Microsoft, so our customers can immediately take advantage of the modern, serene design of Windows 11 that helps them do more with their PC,” stated Chris Chiang, vice president – product marketing, Acer America. “Our Vero product line was thoughtfully designed under the umbrella of our Earthion mission’s focus on environmentally-sound production, product and packaging. We’re excited to deliver a product that showcases what can be done to reduce the environmental impact of PCs.”
Aspire Vero
Designed to align with the core values of eco-minded consumers and EPEAT Silver-certified, the Aspire Vero meets a significant list of environmental and socially responsible criteria, including substance management, materials selection, product longevity, energy consumption, packaging, carbon footprint and corporate environmental performance and social responsibility. It’s made from 30 percent PCR plastic in the chassis, which saves approximately 21 percent in C02 emissions[1] and 50 percent PCR on the keyboard caps to reduce pollution from the production of virgin plastic and landfill trash. In addition, no paint is used on the surface of the chassis. Acer’s new VeroSense™ software gives users the option of selecting a usage mode that has been optimized for energy efficiency and battery life.
The Aspire Vero’s 100% recyclable packaging earned it a 2021 Red Dot Award for Brand & Communication Design. The laptop protective bag and keyboard are comprised of 100 percent recycled plastic and the protective carton box includes up to 85 percent recycled materials. In addition, Acer cooperates with vendors to encourage the replacement of all plastic bags with paper adapter protection sleeves. Acer even designed the box remnants to fold into a stable computer stand with multiple customizable angles and options for daily use.
With a unique, eco-iconic look, the Aspire Vero dispels the myth that green designs have to be boring. The Aspire Vero sports a distinct, environmentally-friendly look with a neutral grey cover and yellow pigment dots. The keyboard design is meant to reinforce eco ideals with the R and E keys standing out in yellow based on the concepts (Review, Rethink, Recycle and Reduce). It is held together by easily-accessible, standardized screws for a simpler disassembly process if and when a hardware upgrade or repair is required. Additionally, stickers with eco-friendly statements and made from 85 percent recycled paper come bundled with the notebook. Customers can apply them for an even more customized look.
Behind the Aspire Vero’s appealing aesthetics are impressive features. Offering up to the latest 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor with Intel® Iris® Xe graphics lets it power through daily productivity tasks and more, while up to 512GB of M.2 SSD storage provides plenty of space to store music, movies and files. The 15.6-inch FHD IPS display provides clear visuals, while AI noise suppression offers clarity during video calls. The notebook also comes with Intel® Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), a USB Type-C port, two USB 3.2 ports and an HDMI 2.0 port for video-out.
Swift 5
The Acer Swift 5 (SF514-55TA) ultrathin and light notebook marries elegant design with the latest performance technology that makes the most of Windows 11. The first configuration in the line available in North America with Windows 11 is the SF514-55TA-77WW, powered by an 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 processor and verified[2] to meet the requirements of the Intel Evo platform with quick wake and up to 17 hours of battery life[3] for all-day productivity.
The impressive capabilities of the Swift 5 are matched by its sophisticated aesthetics. The premium magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum chassis is durable yet lightweight; it weighs about 2.29 lbs. This new configuration of the Swift 5 comes standard with two options that help protect the device; the touchscreen display is covered with a layer of Antimicrobial Corning® Gorilla® Glass[4], while the chassis, touchpad, keyboard and all covers of the device have been treated with aBPR & EPA-compliant silver-ion antimicrobial solution[4].
The Swift 5 also features a vibrant 14-inch Full HD display with a 340-nit brightness rating and 100% sRGB color gamut. In addition, the visuals are even more immersive thanks to the ultra-narrow bezels on all four sides, resulting in a 90% screen-to-body ratio.
Nitro 5
The new Nitro 5 notebooks continue to bring powerful features to gamers looking to get the most bang for their buck. Two models pre-loaded with Windows 11 will be available that feature silky smooth 144Hz displays, delivering beautifully fluid visuals for a top notch gaming experience at a great value. Gamers can choose from models with a 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch 144 Hz FHD display, an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor, and an NVIDIA GTX 1650 or RTX 3050Ti GPU. These powerful components are ideal for handling demanding AAA games with ease. Fast SSDs, powerful cooling, Ethernet and a Thunderbolt 4 port adds to the total package.
