Acer Partners with Operators to Expand Smartphone Business in Asia and Europe
Acer plans to expand its smartphone business with major partnerships in Asia and Europe.
This month Acer will officially enter the South Korean smartphone market through a partnership with one of the country's biggest telecommunication service providers, KT (Formerly Korea Telecom). The Acer Liquid Z5 smartphone will be the first model to be available in the market and will be followed by LTE and higher specification models. KT has a market share of 30% and 17 million subscribers.
Acer is also expanding its smartphone business in Europe through a partnership with T-Mobile that will encompass across multiple European countries. T-Mobile has approximately 140 million subscribers.
In late 2013 Acer announced a partnership with Thailand?s largest mobile phone service provider, Advanced Info Services (AIS), to offer the Acer Liquid Z3 smartphone . Since its launch in Thailand, 336,380 units of the Liquid Z3 have been sold as of Q1 2014.
