Acer Unveils New PCs and Phones At IFA 2015
Today, Acer unveiled a new lineup of powerful PCs including the Predator 15 and 17 gaming notebooks, a refresh to their Aspire V Nitro Series Notebooks and a stylish Aspire V 13 Notebook, the new Aspire R 13 Convertible Notebook and two new desktops, the Aspire U5 Series and the Revo Build Series. Acer also announced two new phones, the Liquid M330 and the Liquid M320 both of which will run Windows 10 Mobile. Predator 15 and 17
Designed for those with a need for speed, the Predator 15 and Predator 17 gaming notebooks combine 6th Gen Intel Core processors with NVIDIA GeForce graphics, DDR4 memory, PCIe solid state drives, advanced cooling and stellar audio capabilities.
For extreme performance, all models include the Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, while select models feature NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 graphics, up to 32GB of DDR4 memory and enterprise level 512GB NVMe PCIe solid state drives. In addition, full USB 3.1 Type-C support allows the ultra-fast transfer of files between external storage devices.
Acer cranks up the entertainment value with SoundPound. Predator 17 models feature SoundPound 4.2, which includes four built-in speakers and two subwoofers, delivering 12 watts of sound, while Predator 15 models feature SoundPound 2.1, which includes two speakers and one subwoofer, for six watts of sound. In addition, Dolby Audio surround sound enhances the overall sound quality, while both notebooks support studio quality headphones of up to 600 Ohm (600O) impedance.
The Acer Predator 15 and Predator 17 notebook lines will be available in North America in November. With prices starting at US$1,499.99 for the Predator 15 and starting at $1,599.99 for the Predator 17. They will also be available in EMEA in November with prices starting at €1,599 for the Predator 15 and starting at €1,799 for the Predator 17. In China, they will be available in October with prices starting at ¥16,999.
Aspire V Nitro Series
The Aspire V Nitro Series notebooks, and the style-and-power blended Aspire V 13 notebook have been refreshed, the new models have aluminum top covers finished with nano-imprint technology.
The new Aspire V 13 notebooks are powered by 6th Gen Intel Core processors, Intel HD graphics, and up to 16GB DDR3L system memory. The notebooks come in two colors – Steel Black and Platinum White. At just 19.65 mm thin and 1.5 kg light, they are designed to slip into a bag easily, while 8 hours of battery life lets users stay unplugged for a full workday.
The Aspire V 13 feature Acer CrystalEye HD webcams, and are Skype for Business certified for smooth audio and visuals. Four USB ports provide connectivity, while two speakers with Dolby Audio technology provide cinematic sound on the go, and thanks to the built-in Precision Touchpad (PTP), the Aspire V 13 enables accurate navigation and full support of Windows 10 gestures across touch and non-touch models.
The refreshed Aspire V Nitro Series notebooks and Aspire V 13 support the latest USB 3.1 Type-C port, while "Black Edition" Aspire V Nitro models support up to 40Gbps (Thunderbolt 3) throughput. All models include Qualcomm VIVE 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Qualcomm MU EFX MU-MIMO technology, allowing up to three times faster2 downloads compared to other 802.11ac products. MU-MIMO networks serve multiple devices simultaneously, so that higher efficacy can be achieved with multiple devices.
The Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro be available in North America in October with prices starting at US$1,099, and in EMEA in September with prices starting at €999. The Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro will be available in North America in October with prices starting at US$999, and in EMEA in September with prices starting at €899. The Acer Aspire V 13 will be available in North America in October with prices starting at US$599, and in EMEA in October with prices starting at €699.
Aspire R 13 Convertible Notebook
The new Aspire R 13 (R7-372T) convertible notebook, offers usability and easy transitions between a variety of user modes. Just 18.5 mm thin, and weighing in at just 1.6 kg, the Aspire R 13 incorporates6th Gen Intel Core processors.
The Aspire R 13 makes use of Acer’s patented Ezel Aero Hinge that supports six modes: Users can maximize productivity with the most efficient method of keyboard input in classic Laptop mode, and switch to Display mode by hiding the keyboard at the back or laying 180 degrees flat, ideal for collaborating and entertainment. Converting to Tent mode gives users the option to use in a confined space, while the magnet design allows the device to be fully converted into Pad mode – without any gaps whatsoever. Transitioning to Ezel mode makes it possible to tilt the screen to angles that suit exact viewing needs, and with Stand mode, users can use an Acer Active Pen to draw and take notes on the display, as if on an easel.
The Aspire R 13 supports Thunderbolt 3 which brings Thunderbolt to USB Type-C at speeds up to 40Gbps. Thunderbolt 3 unlocks the possibility of connecting to an external graphics device for serious gaming needs. In addition, the Aspire R 13 can be configured with 2 SSDs in a RAID-0 setup to provide twice the data throughput rate.

Acer’s First Convertible Chromebook
Acer also added the company’s first convertible Chromebook to its line-up, the Acer Chromebook R 11. It easily transitions between four usage modes: laptop, pad, display and tent modes.
At 19.2 mm thin and weighing less than 1.25 kg, the Chromebook R 11 is designed to slip into book bags. This computer also packs Intel Celeron processors, 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless connection, USB 3.0 port, and fast boot time.
The 11.6-inch HD (1366 x 768) screen with wide viewing angle is complemented by an HD webcam with HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging,
The Acer Chromebook R 11 will be available in North America in October with prices starting from $299. It will also be available in EMEA starting in November at prices starting at €299.
Aspire U5 Series
The new Aspire U5 Series (U5-710) all-in-one PC features a chassis of just 37mm, with a small metal stand. It has a clean profile with the essential I/O ports1 (HDMI I/O, DC Jack, Ethernet, USB 2.0 and 2 x USB 3.0, TV tuner) organized in the back, and the less-used ports and OSD button tucked away under a flap on the side.
The Aspire U5-710 ships with the latest 6th Gen Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, NVIDIA GeForce graphics, and up to 16 GB memory. In addition, the Aspire U5-710 features a built-in Intel RealSense Camera with depth-sensing technology.
The Aspire U5-710 features a 10-point multi-touch Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display, which provides crisp and clear graphics with wide-viewing angles and Flicker-less technology. Dolby Audio and Acer TrueHarmony allow it to fill the room with rich and powerful sound, while Acer Purified.Voice along with dual digital microphones ensures users are heard loud and clear.
Revo Build Series
The new Revo Build Series (M1-601) Mini PC takes a modular approach to allow consumers to customize their computer without opening up the chassis. "Blocks" with different features can be stacked on top of the base unit, which makes adding functionality as easy as playing with toy blocks. The "Blocks" are connected through pogo pins with magnetic alignment so that there’s no hassle with wires when swapping out modules. The Blocks can also work independently or with other PCs. The Revo Build M1-601 desktop is packaged in a tiny 1 liter chassis with a 125 x 125 mm footprint that takes up minimal space and can be placed almost anywhere.
The Acer Aspire U5-710 will be available in EMEA in October with prices starting at €999.
The Acer Revo Build M1-601 will be available in EMEA in October with prices starting at €199, and in China in December with prices starting at ¥1,999.
Acer Liquid M330
As a first phone or a backup to an existing handset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (MS 8909) processor powered 4.5-inch M330 (measuring 136 x 66.5 x 9.6 mm) mixes ease of use with quality audio and visual capabilities to introduce its users to just how much fun a smartphone can be without challenging them technologically. Offering 1GB RAM and 8GB storage, the simple, sleek design adds a subtle curve to the chassis, making this phone a pleasure to hold.
The Acer Liquid M330 will be available in EMEA later this year with prices starting at €129.
Acer Liquid M320
The M320 is aimed at those looking for a great first smartphone or a feature packed second phone. Powered by the Qualcomm MSM 8209 processor, the 4.5-inch handset (measuring 136 x 66.5 x 9.6 mm) is a media and rich content friendly device. It offers 1GB RAM and 8GB storage, a FWVGA wide view angle screen and 2MP front facing and 5MP rear camera. This handset comes with a standard 3G modem, and includes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 EDR connectivity.
Liquid Z630 – Big on Power and Size
Powered by the 64-bit, quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor the 5.5-inch Z630 (measuring 156.3 x 77.5 8.9 mm) is an Android 5.1 handset, enabled by 2GB RAM and a standard 16GB of internal memory. It packs a 4000 mAh battery, an HD Zero Air Gap screen with IPS technology that extends to house the 8MP wide view angle front lens (capable of 1080p video recording) as well as the 8MP auto-focus rear camera (capable of 1080p video). Focusing on sharp display and quality images and supported by 1GB/2GB RAM and 8GB/16GB storage (depending on market), the Vivid Color display; 84 degree wide-angle front facing 8MP selfie lens; Cat4 LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 EDR connectivity.
The Android 5.1 handset features a HD IPS screen with Zero Air Gap to ensure bright rendering of color.
