Alienware Launches Desktop With CPU Overclocked to 4.0 GHz

Alienware announced the relaunch of its Area-51 ALX desktop, the first PC to offer the 3.2GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 overclocked to a 4.0GHz. Alienware's engineers have pushed the QX9770 to its maximum stable output. Every new Area-51 ALX comes standard with Alienware ALX High-Performance Liquid Cooling.



Powering the Area-51 ALX desktop's graphics, users have their choice between NVIDIA Quad SLI featuring dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 cards or an ATI CrossFireX configuration with dual ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 cards. Rounding out the system's performance is up to 4GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz memory.

Alienware willl offer the new Area-51 ALX in three versions:

Standard. (Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650, Single ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2,2GB DDR3 @1600MHz, 1TB 7200RPM HDD) - $4,599

Gaming (Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770, Dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX, 2GB DDR3 @1600MHz, 320GB 10k RPM HDDs- RAID 0) - $5,519

High Performance Gaming(Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770, Dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2, 2GB DDR3 @1600MHz, 320GB 10k RPM HDDs- RAID 0) - $6,119
