All in one device IVDM-7002 by Blaupunkt
Blaupunkt has introduced the Chicago IVDM-7002 in-dash retractable monitor and 5.1-channel DVD receiver as the signature model in their InCar Video line. It combines a fully motorized 7-inch LCD video monitor, DVD/CD/MP3 player, and five amplifier channels with Dolby Digital, ProLogic II and DTS digital processing for a completely integrated car audio/video system. It is completely two-zone/multi-source capable for both audio and video, and forms the ideal centerpiece for a whole-car entertainment system. When combined with any high quality speaker system, it delivers everything necessary for state of the art in-car entertainment system in one easy to use, and easy to install, package.
The new Blaupunkt Chicago IVDM-7002 is comprised of a DIN/ISO in-dash monitor/DVD player, and an external control unit/amplifier that connect to one another via a single data cable for simple installation. The in-dash unit features a 7-inch widescreen active TFT LCD monitor that can be retracted when not in use, a high quality DVD/CD transport, and a Sirius-ready FM/AM tuner. It features two distinct video processing circuits, one for standard 60 Hz NTSC video signals, and the other for the 50 Hz RGB signals used in navigation systems. The outboard control unit houses the five-channel amplifier, DSP (Digital Sound Processor) audio processing and switching circuitry, and integration connections for additional audio/video sources and monitors.
All of the system's functions can be easily controlled via the included handheld remote control, or using the monitor display and front panel controls thanks to the proprietary Graphical User Interface.
The IVDM-7002 display is fully motorized, and includes five different selectable viewing angles. When the monitor is stowed, the faceplate includes an LED display in seven selectable colors for clock and operating information such as radio frequency, track number, chapter, time, etc. When the monitor is open, but no video material is selected, it can display up to seven user-loaded background images that rotate with each song change or at preset intervals.
The outboard control unit features processing for Dolby Digital, ProLogic II, and DTS, and uses high quality 96-kHz/24-bit audio DACs for the ultimate in 5.1-channel audio reproduction. It also has the ability to downmix multichannel soundtracks to four-channel for use with basic car speaker setups that do not use a center channel speaker or subwoofer. Seven additional DSP soundfield modes are included, as is a powerful seven-band parametric equalizer. The control unit also includes five amplifier modules capable of producing up to 50 Watts of power apiece, and there are complete 5.1-channel preouts for use with external amplifiers.
The IVDM-7002 includes a powerful suite of system integration capabilities, including connections and switching for up to three outboard NTSC video sources such as a backup camera, second DVD player, or game console. A true two-zone system, the IVDM-7002 features outputs for two additional zone 2 monitors that can display the same material as the main zone, or a second audio or video source, so parents can use the radio or navigation system while the kids watch a DVD in the back. For even greater system flexibility, the unit can also be easily connected to one of Blaupunkt's IVSC signal controllers, which provide for simple integration of up to five sources and five monitors.
