AOpen Again Takes Lead With First 10x DVD-ROM Drive

AOpen Again Takes Lead With First 10x DVD-ROM Drive

General Interest Sep 30,1999 0

"..Leading the industry with the first 48X CD-ROM drive, followed by the first 8X DVD-ROM drive, AOpen America, the world's largest PC components manufacturer, continues to add another industry first with the announcement of the AOpen DVD-1040 Pro DVD-ROM drive. This new 10X DVD-ROM drive offers the fastest sustained data transfer rate of DVD media, thus allowing users to fully-enjoy DVD games, movies and other DVD-based applications on their PC.

With DVD media, the AOpen DVD-1040 Pro has a sustained data transfer rate up to 33.3MB/second, and an average access time of 110ms. A 512K data buffer further adds to the drive's performance. Additional enhancements include the integration of AOpen's unique digital servo mechanism technology. This greatly extends the life of the drive and keeps it running at optimal speeds.

For maximum PC compatibility, the DVD-1040 Pro is cross compatible with major CD-ROM and DVD media, including CD-R and CD-RW. Furthermore, the DVD-1040 Pro conforms to worldwide standards set by the DVD Forum. This means the drive is available in E-IDE/ATAPI and Ultra-DMA bus models. The AOpen DVD-1040 Pro will be available in October from AOpen authorized resellers throughout North America. The estimated street price is $150. AOpen backs every DVD-1040 Pro drive with a five-year,limited warranty.." NULL
