AOpen launches 64-bit XP Barebone
Showcased at Computex 05, Taipei, the XC Cube EZ482 is the first K8 XC Cube which can run the 64-bit Windows XP operating system.
The device has a 939-pin socket and supports AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor.
The EZ482 provides an YPbPr and S-Video connector and is built with a High Definition AC97 7.1 audio interface so that it can be connected to home entertainment products. Because the system offers both coaxial and optical S/PDIF outputs, the EZ482 can be connected to all digital audio amplifiers. Additionaly the system is equipped with 1 optical S/PDIF input.
Cooling of the device is maintained by the Aopen's proprietary CPU cooler, based on heat pipe technology, which contains heat dissipation liquid inside the heat pipe and ensures a better thermal performance.
The system also offers increased expandability since it is based on the ATI RS482 and IXP450 chipsets, allowing expansion of the memory to 2 GB. DDR memory modules operating at 266/333/400 MHz can be installed in the system.
Featuring four S-ATA ports, four high speed hard drives can be installed to the system. If four 250 GB hard drives are installed to the system, the total hard drive capacity will amount to 1,000 GB. The EZ482 comes with a 10/100/1000 LAN connector.
Furthermore, the system provides eight USB 2.0 ports ? two on the front panel, two on the rear panel, and four on-board. Two 1394 connectors are accessible from the rear panel and one from the front panel.
The system board provides one PCI and one PCI Express x16 expansion slot.
The compact EZ482 comes with a 275W (24-Pin W/8cm fan) power supply and measures only 200 mm (W) x 190 mm (H) x 320 mm (D).
