The be quiet! Pure Rock 2 FX is actually "not" a new product, but a re-fresh with black matte paint since the "original" Pure Rock 2 was at the market since 2020. The new approach for the 20 years of be quiet! is the replacement of the previous fan with the new be quiet! Light Wings ARGB 120mm High-Speed version, which will cover many users since it has many included RGB lights, which of course can be handled from the motherboard's software and produce very nice effects.

The product dimensions are "small to medium" and won’t have any problem fit this fan even to small cases. The mounting mechanism isn't hard, at least for the AMD platform, more or less as with the rest be quiet! CPU products. In any case, big sized RAM modules won't be a problem for this setup, since the front of the 120mm fan is not covering the closest-to-CPU RAM module, great news!

The retail package, is complete with all the needed tools and accessories to get everything started. The product comes with pre-installed thermal paste, so you dont have to worry about this, even we feel should be slight less in amount. While there are four fan clips, indicating that you could install a second 120mm fan, however you need to supply your own 4pin, Y-split adapter.

Passing to the performance area, the product due to its small-medium dimensions does improve situation comparing with the stock AMD fan either in "normal" or OC situations. At normal user the noise levels are good, but not the best we have measured. At the overclocking area, again temperatures will be higher than 80 Celsius (stable 4.50GHz, 1.18V CPU Vcore), but those AMD chipsets can handle temperatures up to 90 Celsius without any problem.

Overall, we feel that be quiet! introduced to the market a good product with RGB functionality and performance that users will be pleased with. Due to its 20th anniversary year, the retail prices are further reduced down to $39.90 (till end of September or while stock lasts) and be quiet! has also a free giveaway for people who want to participate. So what you are waiting for? Enter the competition now!.

The Good:

+ Good retail package, it also includes thermal paste pre-applied
+ Good volume for medium sized cases
+ Supports up to 150watt TDP processors
+ Stock package includes 120mm fan
+ Retail package includes a second fan clip set for adding a second 120mm fan
+ Supports many Intel / AMD sockets
+ Good performance compared vs AMD stock cooler
+ Good noise level
+ Relatively easy installation process
+ 3 years of warranty

+ Great price till end of September

Neutral:

  • Adding a second fan didn't improved much performance with an AMD Ryzen 5600X, probably avoid it to save $

The bad

- None...
