Blizzard's Overwatch League Makeup Matches Moved to Seoul
After cancelling all of the scheduled Overwatch League games in China during February and March in the wake of the coronavirus, Blizzard announced its plan to reschedule the games.
In order to protect the health and safety of fans, players, and staff, Overwatch League matches at homestand events in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou—in February and March—had been cancelled. Blizzard announced that those makeup matches are going to be played in Seoul, South Korea.
The matches will be played over multiple days in Weeks 6 and 7 at a studio in Seoul. A few of the makeup matches might be added to the Seoul Dynasty homestand in Week 5. Blizzard said that the makeup matches will not affect the other scheduled homestands in Washington (Week 5), Florida (Week 6), and Atlanta (Week 7). Specific match times are expected to be announced “soon.”
The League of Legends Pro League in China has also postponed matches indefinitely, while League of Legends Champions Korea is currently playing games without spectators present for safety reasons. Similarly, a PUBG tournament in Berlin scheduled for April has been postponed with no makeup date announced.
