CeBIT 2008: Motherboards With Intel 4-Series Chipsets
Intel's partners are showcasing motherboards with the upcoming 4-series chipsets at CeBIT 2008.
Intel's P45, G45, G43, and X48 chipsets, due to launch in Q2 this year, are built on 65nm process and offer less power consumption compared to previous offerings (90nm).
Highlights of the G45 chipset inlcude the Intel GMA X4500 HD graphics core, which adds support for H.264 decode acceleration for enhanced reproduction of HD DVD and Blu-ray movies. AMD's Universal Video Decorder as well as Nvidia's PureVideo HD technologies will also be supported. Motherboard vendors claim that the G45's X4500HD scores around 1,100 in 3DMark06. It also supports HDMI/DVI/Display Port, a 1333MHz FSB and DDR3 up to 1333MHz.
The G43 chipset uses the X4500 GPU core, dual channel memory controllers (1 DIMM /Channel) and supports up to 1066MHz DDR3.
Compared with Intel's previous 3-series of chipsets, the new series add support PCI Express 2.0 to all high-end and mainstream products.Intel's Core 2 Extreme QX9770 high-performance processor will also be supported by the new chipsets.
Motherboad vendors that showcased implementations of Intel's upcoming chipsets include abit's IP45 GT3 and IP45 PRo (P45 chipset), abit's IX48-MAX (X48 chipset), Albatron's PX48 (X48 chipset), Asus' Maximus II Extreme, P5Q WS and P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP (P45 chipset) ASRock's X48, Biostar's T-Power I45 (P45 chipset) Foxconn's G43, Gigabyte's G45, MSI's P45 Diamond, Asus P5Q-V HDMI , P5Q-EM HDMI (G45 chipset), FOXCONN GREEN ELMG , G45M-S (G45 chipset) and many more.
