CeBIT Asia: RWPPI demonstrates hybrid RW discs

CeBIT Asia: RWPPI demonstrates hybrid RW discs

Optical Storage Apr 11,2005 0

The complete series of DVD-R/-RW products will be exhibited at CeBIT Asia 2005, which will be held in Shanghai, China from May 11. In continuation with last year's activities, RWPPI will conduct joint promotion with member companies regarding DVD-RW/DVD-R related products.

All those that will have the chance to attend CeBIT Asia, will see newly-developed technologies including dual layer DVD-RW and DVD-R discs, 16x DVD-R (singe layer) 6x DVD-RW discs, as well as a special hybrid RW disc that incorporates both DVD-RW and DVD-ROM attributes.

The hybrid RW disc includes a technology that assigns areas for ROM (playback only) on the inner perimemeter and RW (recording/playback) on the outer perimeter on the same disc. Its wide-ranging applications include video game discs that read software programs from the ROM area and save data during and after play in the RW area, and discs for use in e-commerce that record encrypted data for protection of personal information.

In addition, at the main stage of the booth, along with the presentation of promotional videos, there will be a demonstration of video shooting with a DVD camcorder, editing on a DVD recorder and playing back on a PC or DVD player. That will help to present the main features of DVD-RW/DVD-R to visitors in an easy-to -understand manner.
