Cyberlink and Microsoft collaborate to deliver MP3 creation and DVD Decoder Add-On packs for Windows XP
CyberLink announced today that it is collaborating with Microsoft to deliver two new add-on packs for Microsoft's upcoming new operating system release, Windows XP.
CyberLink will provide Power Packs for Windows XP, optional plug-ins that will enable the new Windows Media Player for Windows XP to create high quality MP3 files directly from user CDs and provide playback of DVD movies and MPEG-2 videos. Microsoft will provide users with links inside of Windows Media Player to CyberLink web pages to purchase the Power Packs.

CyberLink will offer end-users three Power Packs for Windows XP: an MP3 encoder plug-in module that will allow users to easily rip their CDs to high quality MP3 files, a DVD module that will allow end users to playback DVD movies from within Media Player and a Combo Pack that will provide both plug-ins. The DVD module is based on CyberLink's award-winning standalone DVD software player, PowerDVD. Pricing for the Power Packs was not finalized at press time.
