CyberLink PowerDVD 3.0 Software to Ship with HP's First DVD+RW/CD-RW Drive

Optical Storage Oct 11,2001 0

CyberLink announced that PowerDVD 3.0 will be shipped with Hewlett-Packard Company's new HP DVD-writer dvd100i, its first combination DVD+RW/CD-RW drive. CyberLink's PowerDVD is one of the most popular software-only DVD players and is well known for its playback support of various file and disc media formats. Using the DVD+RW format and integrating CyberLink's PowerDVD, HP's DVD-writer offers users multiple capabilities, including playback of video titles (DVD or Video CD), video files (MPEG-1 and MPEG-2), MP3 digital music files and Audio CDs. The HP DVD-Writer dvd100i is expected to begin shipping October 2001.

"The DVD+RW format allows for easy storage of large data or video files on discs that are compatible with the majority of DVD-ROM drives and DVD-Video players," stated Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. "HP's DVD-writer dvd100i customers will be ensured of the best playback experience with our PowerDVD software application and can look forward to continued support of the DVD+RW format with CyberLink's growing range of digital video programs."

"HP's DVD-writer is designed for consumers that want to make either CDs or DVDs with flexible recording options and easy-to-use software," said John Spofford, vice president and general manager, HP Personal Storage Solutions. "As a proven feature and quality leader in the digital video software business, Cyberlink's PowerDVD integrated into HP's DVD-writer enables consumers to easily play DVDs and CDs on their PC."
