Epomaker Magcore 87
4. Conclusion
The EPOMAKER Magcore 87 is a mechanical keyboard that packs very high build quality and inductive switches. This product was announced back in January 2025 at CES however now his the market, and we can say we are impressed! The layout is TKL meaning most users will have a familiar place to start fast typing since this is a full-size keyboard layout with the numeric pad, something that most gamers prefer, with shorter dimensions to occupy less space at the desk. The build material is Aluminum, the overall weight is almost 2kg and this boy is very heavy, it will stand up even in long gaming sessions for sure. There is no flex at all and the black matt color is nice to view. The keyboard comes also with transparent keys to give you a different design, but black keycaps are included in the retail package as well. There is only one connection by wire (TypeC) with an 8K polling rate (you cannot change this, even with the EPOMAKER driver software). All buttons, as with all EPOMAKER products, are hot-swappable the used keycaps are made out of PBT, so the surface should be somewhat more resistant to turning shiny from skin oils, compared to ABS.
Typing with this keyboard is very good, there is a noticeable click, not very deep, but it's there. What stands out about this keyboard are the inductive switches, which offer precise and adjustable actuation points. By integrating inductive switches, the Epomaker Magcore87 eliminates the need for physical contact to register keystrokes. This contactless actuation ensures ultra-fast response times, and high precision, significantly extending the lifespan of the switches. Users can fine-tune the actuation point of each key individually, to suit their personal preferences. This flexibility enables the keyboard to adapt seamlessly to different operational needs, whether for competitive gaming, professional programming, or daily office work. The EPOMAKER Driver software is Windows only and it's well designed, everything is understandable and you can really adjust each switch key according to your wishes, and there are also six different (advanced) features you can use if you like this kind of gaming style. EPOMAKER could add some height adjustment for this keyboard and palm rest as well.
Overall, we have a product built like a tank, including a TKL layout and a "high" price of $199.99 that aims for enthusiastic users and mostly gamers. We do like the full-size layout keyboards, so the TKL and the inductive switches are becoming our next favorite to use at our daily use. Great work from EPOMAKER to present a TKL keyboard with such advanced features, let's see what comes next!
