Facebook's Black Friday Deals on Oculus Rift and Go VR Are Anemic
If you are thinking about getting a decent VR headset, the existing Oculus VR hardware is getting a slight Black Friday price drop.
Black Friday pricing will be rolling out to Oculus.com customers around the world starting Thursday Nov 22 and be live through Monday November 26 midnight. You can pick up Oculus Rift for $349USD ($50 off) and Oculus Go for $179USD ($20 off) at Oculus.com and through retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, and more.
The Oculus Go is a mobile standalone headset designed for casual viewing of 360 degree videos or short immersive experiences. It lacks "six degree of freedom" full motion tracking. This means that if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone or Google Daydream-ready phone, you can always pop it in a less-expensive Gear VR or Google Daydream View for a similar experience.
The Oculus Rift is considered to be the best PC-connected VR system, with excellent wireless controllers that offer precision movement and a huge library of games and apps.
The Oculus Store will also offer app discounts with nearly 50 titles across Rift, Oculus Go and Gear VR, with savings of up to 60% off.
Facebook promised to unveil fresh discounts and offers as Black Friday approaches.
And remember that the Oculus Quest, Facebook's next-gen mobile standalone VR system, is coming next year.
