Facebook's Workforce is Mostly White Males

Facebook's Workforce is Mostly White Males

Enterprise & IT Jun 26,2014 0

Facebook has became the latest tech company to release its demographic data publicly, and it seems that the company mainly occupyies white males. In a Wednesday blog post from global head of diversity Maxine Williams, Facebook said it has "more work to do — a lot more."

At Facebook, women represented 31 percent of all employees in June 2014, but only 15 percent work in technical jobs. Forty-seven percent of non-technical jobs and 23 percent of senior level jobs are held by women.

Fifty-seven percent of all employees identify as white. Thirty-four percent are Asian, four percent are Hispanic, three percent are two or more races, and two percent are black, according to the company.

Seventy-four percent of senior level workers are white, while 19 percent are Asian.

Williams highlighted some of the efforts the company is making to increase diversity. Last year, Facebook launched a strategic diversity team, which is seeing improved new hire figures for underrepresented groups, according to Williams. The company is also partnering with organizations like the Anita Borg Institute and National Center for Women & Information Technology to support women working in technology.

Yahoo, Google, and LinkedIn have also released diversity figures.
