Freecom presents new USB memory products

Freecom presents new USB memory products

Enterprise & IT Oct 19,2004 0

In November, Freecom will be presenting two new flash-memory products, in the shape of the credit-card-size USBCard PRO and the tiny, 9-gram USB-stick DataBar 2.0, which differ clearly from each other in terms of both size and performance. Freecom thus offers two tailor-made, mobile memory solutions for different target groups and their specific requirements.

The USBCard PRO, which fits snugly into the credit card compartment of any wallet, shines out in the truest sense of the word with its timeless and particularly robust design. Waterproof down to 20 m, the completely scratch-proof magnesium housing - integrating the mobile "click"-fitting USB connection - is an unmistakable yet still stylish "eye-catcher".

The internal features are just as convincing. The USBCard PRO, which is available immediately with memory capacities of 256 MB, 512 MB und 1 GB, comes with a comprehensive, pre-installed software package to meet even the highest demands: password protection, which makes the data inaccessible if the card is lost, convenient, worldwide e-mail access (via Outlook Pop3) on any computer with a USB interface, and Auto Run for Windows are just some of the features provided. With average data transfer rates of 15 MB/s (reading) and 11 MB/s (writing), the USB card is also no slouch when it comes to speed.

In parallel, Freecom is also bringing out its first "low-cost" USB-stick. The DataBar 2.0, available with memory capacities of 64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB and 512 MB, offers solid and reliable memory function at a very agreeable price/performance ratio. With a length of 65 mm and a weight of less than ten grams, this new miniature device from Freecom will never be a burden to its owner, but a handy and convenient way of storing and transporting up to 512 MB of data.

The USBCard PRO and DataBar 2.0 run under MS Windows, Mac OS 9.1/10.x and Linux 2.4. Freecom supplies both products with a multi-lingual Quick Install Guide and a two-year guarantee. The USBCard is available from 119 € (recommended retail price for the 256 MB-version), while the USB-stick Databar 2.0 comes at the matching low price of 19.95 € for the 64 MB-version.
