Gigabyte Showcases Upgraded SSDs, Liquid cooling, Cloud Storage, and AI-Integrated Laptops at CES 2019
GIGABYTE echoes CES’ hot topics to showcase key solutions for the intelligent generation.
For the next evolution of 5G, AI, AIOT, cloud computing and other forward-looking technologies, GIGABYTE brings solutions including liquid cooling, cloud storage, AI training, face recognition, and AI-integrated laptops.
The company is also showcasing the latest GeForce RTX 2060 graphics cards powered by NVIDIA Turing architecture, the newest AORUS RGB SSDs and released BIOS updates for its motherboards to make them compatible with the latest Intel F series core i processors.
CES Ready
This year GIGABYTE introduces the next generation of the Two-Phase Liquid Immersion Cooling System, featuring a standardized proof of concept unit that is immediately available. Through improvement, this new generation promises to provide double the amount of floating point operations performance and achieve even better PUE in an even more compact physical size.
VirtualStor Extreme is GIGABYTE’s decentralized storage cluster solution that, invented with software-defined storage vendor Bigtera, can simplify storage management using virtualized system architecture. It can integrate and manage existing storage systems (including the vast majority of storage types on the market such as SAN, NAS, Object, File) to provide flexibility to allocate and use existing storage resources.
AI Ready
GIGABYTE has partnered with ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute) of Taiwan to develop a DNN (Deep Neural Network) workload-optimized appliance which can optimize batch operations through automatic parameter adjustments and better GPU memory utilization. By adopting a graphical interface and letting non-technical users to experiment freely, the DNN shreds significant time from trial and error, making it a cross-discipline AI training program to transform businesses to the new intelligent generation.
GIGABYTE has also brought several AI applications to CES. A smart digital signage, which can display advertisements based on different attributes such as gender and age, is a glimpse of what personalized marketing without the invasion of privacy would be.
GIGABYTE also announced the new AERO 15 AI high performance laptop during CES.
The laptop is identical to the previous model in terms of chassis design It has a 15.6-inch, Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. Gigabyte is focused on not only updating the hardware inside the laptop but ensuring as much of it is Intel-made as possible – from the processor to the SSD and the modem.
With Microsoft Azure Machine Learning, the laptop is able to determine users’ program patterns and allocate the best CPU and GPU wattage usage to empower the optimized performance at all times. Upon setup, a user can opt-in to share processor, graphics, fan, keyboard and audio usage data with Microsoft’s Azure AI cloud service. Microsoft’s servers will then take that data and use it to optimize the hardware inside the laptop for the given use case, whether it be gaming or content creation or something else entirely. The machine learning tool, this feature is expected to only grow more accurate and impactful as you use it.
The new Gigabyte Aero 15 includes the Intel Core i7-8550H processor to start, which you can upgrade to the Intel Core i9-8950HK. Either processor will come paired with an Intel 760p SSD, Nvidia RTX chips, Thunderbolt 3 connectivity and a Killer 1550 802.11ac Wi-Fi modem powered by Intel Wi-Fi.
BIOS Updates
GIGABYTE has also updated its motherboard BIOS to bring compatibility for the new Intel F series Core i processors. The new BIOS updates have been uploaded to the official GIGABYTE website for users to download.
The newest 9th Gen. Intel F series Core i processors have removed integrated graphics to conserve resources for mainstream users using dedicated graphics cards. Although GIGABYTE motherboards already support 9th Gen. Intel Core i processors and users can install their new processors and dedicated graphics cards, GIGABYTE has specifically updated its BIOS for users to bring optimized performance on the 9th Gen. Intel F series Core i processors. GIGABYTE has updated the BIOS for the Z390/H370/B360/H310 chipset motherboard product lines.

Upgraded SSD Lineup With AORUS RGB Series
GIGABYTE has improved its M.2 PCIe Gen3 X4 SSD by infusing aesthetics and style to its new NVMe based, PCIe Gen3 X4 AORUS RGB SSD.
The newest AORUS RGB SSD comes in two form factors, AIC and M.2, and offers a selection of mainstream storage capacity options. AORUS RGB SSD showcases colorful, digital LED lighting and has full lighting synchronization with motherboards.
The AORUS RGB M.2 SSD comes in two mainstream storage capacities: 256GB and 512GB. The SSD delivers sequential read speeds up to 3480 MB/s and sequential write speed up to 2000 MB/s and is built with anodized, aluminum heatsinks.
The AORUS RGB AIC SSD takes it a step further by offering larger storage capacity sizes 512GB and 1TB as well as faster sequential read speeds up to 3480 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 3080 MB/s. The heatsink design of the AORUS RGB AIC SSD is inspired by the Z390 AORUS Motherboard series. The AORUS RGB AIC SSD integrates heat dissipation technologies into its heatsink design to provide a superior heat dissipation compared to standard AIC SSD aluminum heatsinks. A 0.5cm thick dark gray aluminum matte heatsink as well as cross cut heatsink has been added and a thick LAIRD Thermal Pad has been placed between the heatsink and flash memory.
Furthermore, AORUS RGB AIC SSD offers RGB technology with frontside RGB lighting and default RGB wave patterns so that peripherals won’t get in the way by blocking the view of the SSD lighting effects. With the RGB Fusion 2.0 App, users can bring smooth or even layered lighting effects.
